This path was taken 8 years ago with the introduction of ice pack eco and later the EcoCoolBox. With the introduction of the Climaliner and Recycold gel packs, all customers of Inter Fresh Concepts can now be provided with a fully recyclable cold-chain packaging. 

Climaliner 

Climaliner is a paper thermal liner that can protect products from temperature fluctuations for up to 48 hours. This ready-to-use solution is easy to fold into any box, allowing you to no longer be confined to a standard size insulation box. 

Climaliner consists of more than 98.5% paper, making it recyclable, renewable, and biodegradable. The paper and adhesive are accepted in the paper recycling process (confirmed by the European Paper Recycling Council, EPRC). 

"With the introduction of Climaliner, a green packaging solution is now within reach for all our customers. Compared to other insulation boxes, it is easier to store, cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and user-friendly. This is the future of insulated packing of perishables," says Jisk Hoogervorst, Managing Director of Inter Fresh Concepts BV. 

Recycold gel packs 

Unlike regular gel packs, Recycold gel packs are fully recyclable. The completely biodegradable cooling gel can be disposed of in a sink or garden. The outer paper layer not only saves plastic but also aligns with trends where paper is reused: the layer has been recyclable in a large number of markets since 2021. 

Regarding Recycold gel packs, Hoogervorst says: "100% Recyclable gel packs were not yet available in the market. Recycold gel packs are the only gel packs with a biodegradable gel that can be simply thrown away with old paper in the Netherlands. In a growing online market where consumers increasingly value the environment, this is truly a game changer in the cold-chain." 

The cooling performance of Recycold gel packs is equivalent to that of plastic gel packs. With the use of an insulated box or Climaliner, fresh products can be kept well for up to 48 hours in a shipping package.
